Source Policy

Preferred sources

We prefer primary, official sources — utility tariff sheets, PUC filings, government agencies, statute text, and provider-published documents — over secondary reporting.

Verification

Every managed source is reviewed on a schedule appropriate to its risk level. High-risk sources (utility rules, tax credits, incentives, permit fees) are reviewed weekly.

Broken and expired sources

If a source becomes unavailable or expires, dependent content is flagged for reverification and downgraded from "current" until a live source is re-confirmed.

Conflicting sources

When sources conflict, we cite both, explain the conflict, and defer to the most authoritative primary source.

Snapshots

Where legally permitted, we retain source snapshots so we can reconstruct what a page said at the time of an original claim.

Citation standards

Every public factual claim is linked to at least one source in the page's "Sources" section.
